Since the closure was announced, I’ve received several phone calls and texts from locals, frequent guests, and friends we’ve made along the way, all of whom have shown their unwavering support and wished us all the best. It was truly heartwarming to know that we’ve made a significant impact on many people.
Why did El Caminante Bar & Bungalow close down?
For several reasons, primarily due to poor money management, bad business plans and investors not seeing their returns quickly. From what we’ve gathered, closing the hotel was not planned; it was an impulse and a very risky move from one of the owners.
Is it a permanent closure?
For now, the property is temporarily closed.
Are they selling the hotel? Will they tear it down?
No, because it’s a historic building, the agreement stipulates that whoever purchases it must adhere to its historical preservation requirements. The hotel is currently listed for sale at $16,500,000.00.
When did you find out?
We found out two days before the closure.. over a zoom call.
Would you return to the hotel if someone else purchased it?
In a heartbeat! <3
If I already booked, will I get charged or refunded?
When we announced the closure, we made sure to take care of all the accounts and upcoming bookings, including the third-party websites like Booking, Expedia, and Agoda.
I’m curious to know, how did you find out about the hotel closure?
